Thank You For Choosing The Seventh Generation

Below you will find links to the documentary about Hugh Wilson of Hinewai Reserve, my scones recipe and more, # please leave me a review – your review helps my business grow!

Thank you for choosing The Seventh Generation Tours in Akaroa, I hope that you have enjoyed your time on tour with me (at least nearly as much as I enjoyed my time showing you around!). It’s my great honour to share our nations history, my families story, my dreams for the future and just hopefully plant a little seed of hope inside each one of you.

We talk about so much on the tour, and cover so many aspects of Akaroa and New Zealand’s story that it’s nice to have these links to click back to and share. Most importantly watch the short documentary on Hugh, that will help to keep the hope and inspiration alive, what an amazing man to grow up next door to, what an inspiring story he has!

Please feel free to share this post with friends and family and spread the word about my tours!

The Seventh Generation – Natural and Cultural History Tours.

Such a strong aspect of the tours is hospitality Manaakitanga, it was wonderful to meet you and share some time to get to know each other, and part of that (at least on the 3 hour tour) is sharing food kai, an important New Zealand tradition, and homemade scones are the tradition in my farming family, used to feed hungry shearer’s, fencers, and bargain a better price for your stock, these days I make them for guests coming to learn about our regenerative aspirations to ensure that our land stays productive and resilient for seven generations to come after us. Thank you for choosing The Seventh Generations scones!

Takapūneke Story – Including legal witness statements

The horrific incredible catalyst for New Zealand’s formation and shaping, the first European involvement in intertribal warfare, and the link to the witness statements taken shortly after the incident. This lead to a whole chain of events in Akaroa Harbour that shaped the identity of our nation. There is no better place in New Zealand to learn about our history.

The Seventh Generation Principle

For us, and the seven generations coming after us, keeping in mind the seven generations that came before. Pretty easy, once you have that scale in mind you will be more careful with your decisions, and perhaps it will help you find what are the most important things in your life, for me it is this land and the stories that shape this land. Thank you for choosing The Seventh Generation Principle!

Marie Haley

I am your guide, Marie Haley, I was born and raised on Banks Peninsula. The seventh generation direct decedent of Akaroa’s very first French settler. I grew up on the family farm following in the footsteps of my Grandfather, and his Grandfather before.
